These chocolate chip cherry bars are gooey, buttery, and packed with bursts of sweet cherries and melty chocolate chips. Perfect for any occasion, they’re easy to make and absolutely irresistible.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar
  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (150g) fresh or frozen cherries, pitted and halved
  • 1 cup (150g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy lifting.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips and cherries.
  7. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish using a spatula.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Allow the bars to cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes before lifting them out and slicing into squares.

Notes

For best results, use parchment paper for easy removal and ensure cherries are well-drained if using frozen. Let the bars cool completely before slicing for cleaner cuts.
