Golden, crispy mozzarella sticks with gooey, stretchy cheese—perfect for parties, game nights, or cozy movie marathons. Easy to make and customizable for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • Mozzarella cheese sticks (pre-packaged string cheese, cut in half)
  • All-purpose flour
  • Large eggs
  • Italian-style breadcrumbs or panko breadcrumbs
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Garlic powder
  • Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil (canola or sunflower oil for frying)
  • Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Cut the mozzarella sticks in half and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  2. Set up a breading station with three bowls: one for flour, one for whisked eggs, and one for breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dredge each mozzarella stick in flour, dip into the egg wash, and roll in the breadcrumb mixture. Repeat the egg wash and breadcrumb step for a double coating.
  4. Arrange the breaded sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 1 hour.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry a few mozzarella sticks at a time for 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown.
  7. Remove the fried sticks with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  8. Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

Freeze the breaded mozzarella sticks before frying to prevent cheese leakage. Monitor oil temperature to maintain crispiness. Experiment with seasonings for unique flavors.
