A quick and flavorful air fryer salmon recipe with a sweet-savory teriyaki glaze that crisps the skin and keeps the fish tender and juicy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (6 oz / 170 g each), skin-on
  • ½ cup (120 ml) low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon (15 ml) water
  • 2 stalks green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds (optional)
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the teriyaki glaze: In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat for about 3 minutes.
  2. Thicken the glaze: Mix cornstarch with cold water until smooth. Slowly whisk this slurry into the simmering sauce. Stir for 1-2 minutes until thickened to a glossy, syrupy consistency. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and run empty for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Brush a thin layer of teriyaki glaze on each fillet, coating both sides lightly but reserving most for serving.
  5. Place salmon fillets skin-side down in the air fryer basket without overlapping.
  6. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 8-10 minutes until the flesh is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
  7. Transfer salmon to plates, brush with remaining teriyaki glaze, and garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds. Serve immediately with lemon wedges.

Notes

Pat salmon dry before glazing for crispy skin. Simmer glaze gently to avoid burning honey. Avoid overcrowding air fryer basket for even cooking. Let salmon rest a minute after cooking to redistribute juices. For gluten-free, use tamari and maple syrup instead of soy sauce and honey.
