A creamy and comforting dish featuring smoky blackened shrimp paired with rich stroganoff sauce, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken or seafood stock
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp sour cream
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 oz egg noodles or pasta of choice
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss the peeled shrimp with olive oil and spices (paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper). Ensure each piece is evenly coated.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until they’re blackened and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, cooking until softened and fragrant, about 3 minutes.
  4. Stir in chicken or seafood stock, heavy cream, sour cream, and Dijon mustard. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Taste and adjust salt and pepper as needed. If the sauce feels too thick, add a splash of stock to thin it out.
  6. Meanwhile, boil egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  7. Toss the cooked noodles with the stroganoff sauce, then top with blackened shrimp. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Don’t overcrowd the skillet when cooking shrimp to achieve the perfect blackened crust. Adjust cayenne pepper for spice tolerance.
