Candy Cane Milkshake

candy cane milkshake recipe - featured image

A creamy, peppermint-flavored milkshake perfect for the holiday season, combining vanilla ice cream and crushed candy canes for a festive treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream
  • 1 cup milk (whole milk preferred, or 2% or non-dairy milk like almond)
  • 34 medium-sized candy canes, crushed finely
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
  • Crushed candy canes or peppermint sprinkles (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Place 3-4 candy canes into a sealed plastic bag and crush into small, uneven bits using a rolling pin or the back of a spoon.
  2. Add 2 cups vanilla ice cream, 1 cup milk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract into a blender.
  3. Add about 2 tablespoons of the crushed candy cane bits into the blender, reserving some for garnish.
  4. Pulse the mixture 5-6 times, then blend on medium speed for about 30 seconds until smooth and creamy. Add a splash of milk if too thick and blend again.
  5. Pour the milkshake into tall glasses.
  6. Top each glass with whipped cream and sprinkle remaining crushed candy canes or peppermint sprinkles on top.
  7. Serve immediately for best flavor and texture.

Notes

Do not over-blend to avoid melting the ice cream too much. Crush candy canes finely but not into powder to avoid grainy texture. Keep ingredients cold and chill glassware beforehand for best results. You can prepare the base ahead and add toppings just before serving.
