Creamy Gringo Dip

creamy gringo dip recipe - featured image

A rich, tangy, and slightly spicy creamy dip perfect for parties, made with cream cheese, sour cream, cheddar, and a touch of jalapeño.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup (240 ml) sour cream
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) mayonnaise
  • 1 cup (100 g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 small jalapeño, finely chopped (seeds removed for milder heat)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese by leaving it out for 30 minutes or microwaving in 10-second bursts until soft.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Beat with an electric mixer or whisk until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
  4. Add the finely chopped jalapeño, garlic powder, onion powder, and ground cumin. Stir well and taste to adjust spices if desired.
  5. Fold in the chopped cilantro and lime juice.
  6. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste, mixing well.
  7. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld and texture firm up.
  8. Before serving, stir gently and optionally sprinkle extra shredded cheese or cilantro on top.

Notes

Softening the cream cheese properly is key to a smooth texture. Adjust jalapeño seeds to control heat. Chill dip for at least 30 minutes before serving for best flavor. If too thick after chilling, add a splash of sour cream or milk to loosen.
