This recipe delivers crispy honey garlic glazed salmon with tender flakes, cooked quickly and easily in an air fryer for a restaurant-quality meal at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 salmon fillets, skin-on, about 6 ounces (170 grams) each, fresh or thawed
  • 2 tablespoons honey (preferably raw or local)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper, freshly cracked
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • Optional garnish: chopped green onions or sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together 2 tablespoons honey, 3 cloves minced garlic, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon olive oil, and 1 teaspoon rice vinegar until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Pat dry 2 salmon fillets with paper towels. Lightly sprinkle both sides with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper.
  3. Brush the honey garlic glaze evenly over the top side of each fillet, avoiding the skin side to keep it crispy.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F and let it heat for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Place the fillets skin-side down in the air fryer basket without overlapping.
  6. Air fry for 7 minutes, then carefully flip each fillet and brush the cooked side with the remaining glaze.
  7. Air fry another 3-5 minutes until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and the glaze is caramelized but not burnt. Total cooking time is about 10-12 minutes.
  8. Check that the internal temperature reaches 125-130°F for medium-rare to medium doneness. Add a minute or two if preferred more done, watching closely to avoid drying out.
  9. Remove the salmon and let it rest for 3 minutes. Sprinkle with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired before serving.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if needed. Pat salmon dry before seasoning to ensure crispy skin. Watch glaze closely near end to prevent honey from burning. Let salmon rest after cooking for juicy flakes. For gluten-free, substitute soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos. Maple syrup or agave can replace honey but will alter flavor slightly.
