A quick and easy air fryer salmon recipe featuring a crispy honey sesame glaze paired with fresh sautéed bok choy, perfect for a healthy and satisfying weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 skin-on salmon fillets (6 oz / 170 g each)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (light or wildflower honey preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 1 pound fresh bok choy (450 g), halved or quartered lengthwise
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or neutral oil (for sautéing bok choy)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glaze: In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and rice vinegar (if using). Set aside.
  2. Season the salmon: Pat the skin-on fillets dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Lightly season both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and let it heat for about 5 minutes.
  4. Place the fillets skin-side down in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 7 minutes.
  5. Brush the glaze generously over the flesh side, flip carefully, and cook for another 3-4 minutes until salmon flakes easily and skin is crispy.
  6. While salmon cooks, heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add bok choy, season with salt and pepper, and sauté for 4-5 minutes until tender but still bright green. Optionally add a splash of soy sauce or garlic.
  7. Serve the crispy salmon alongside the sautéed bok choy. Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds on top of the salmon.

Notes

Pat salmon skin dry before cooking to ensure crispiness. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow even cooking. Brush glaze halfway through cooking to prevent burning. Use a thermometer to check for 125°F (52°C) for perfectly cooked salmon. Leftovers reheat best in air fryer or skillet to maintain crisp skin. Glaze can be made ahead and refrigerated up to 3 days.
