These crispy air fryer Nutella stuffed French toast sticks are a quick and easy breakfast treat with a crunchy exterior and gooey chocolate center, perfect for busy mornings or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 thick slices of bread (white or Texas toast)
  • Nutella or chocolate-hazelnut spread (about 6 tablespoons)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) whole milk or 2% milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Butter or cooking spray (for greasing air fryer basket)
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Cut 6 thick slices of bread into sticks about 1-inch wide (approximately 2.5 cm).
  2. Spread about 1 tablespoon of Nutella on the inside of one stick, then sandwich it with another stick, pressing gently to seal. Repeat until all sticks are filled. Warm Nutella slightly if too thick to spread.
  3. In a shallow bowl, whisk together 3 large eggs, 1/2 cup milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon until smooth.
  4. Dip each Nutella-stuffed stick into the egg mixture, coating all sides. Let excess drip off; do not soak too long.
  5. Preheat air fryer to 370°F (188°C) for about 3 minutes.
  6. Lightly grease the air fryer basket with butter or cooking spray. Place sticks in a single layer with space between them.
  7. Cook for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy. Nutella inside should be melty but not leaking.
  8. Remove sticks with tongs and place on a cooling rack. Dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve warm.

Notes

Use thick-cut bread like Texas toast for best results. Avoid soaking bread too long in custard to prevent sogginess. Preheat air fryer for crispiness. If Nutella is too thick, warm it slightly before spreading. Chill stuffed sticks before dipping to reduce leaking. Do not overcrowd air fryer basket.
