Transform store-bought tortellini into crispy, cheesy bites with minimal prep and maximum flavor. Perfect as a snack, appetizer, or weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • Tortellini (cheese-filled recommended, meat or spinach options also work)
  • Panko breadcrumbs or Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs
  • Finely grated Parmesan cheese
  • Eggs
  • Marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • Olive oil spray
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Optional: Italian seasoning or paprika
  • Optional: Fresh basil for garnish
  • Optional: Red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Cook the tortellini according to package instructions, then drain and let them cool slightly.
  2. In a shallow bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs until smooth.
  4. Dip each tortellini into the egg wash, then coat it in the breadcrumb mixture. Press gently to ensure an even coating.
  5. Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and preheat for 3 minutes.
  6. Arrange the breaded tortellini in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Spray lightly with olive oil. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  7. While the tortellini cook, warm up your marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat.
  8. Remove the tortellini from the air fryer and serve immediately with the marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

[‘Preheat the air fryer for even cooking and crispiness.’, ‘Use chilled tortellini for better breading and air frying results.’, ‘Work in batches to avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket.’, ‘If the coating doesn’t stick well, pat the tortellini dry after boiling and add a little flour before dipping in the egg wash.’]
