These crispy garlic knots made from pizza dough are an easy, flavorful snack with a buttery garlicky kick and a perfectly crisp exterior.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) pizza dough, store-bought or homemade
  • 4 tablespoons (60g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 34 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup (25g) grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, garlic powder, chopped parsley, and a pinch of salt. Stir well.
  3. Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a 12×10-inch (30x25cm) rectangle.
  4. Cut the dough into 1-inch (2.5cm) strips, yielding about 12-14 strips.
  5. Tie each strip into a loose knot and place on the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 1 inch apart.
  6. Lightly brush each knot with olive oil.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and crisp, watching closely from 12 minutes to avoid burning.
  8. Remove from oven and brush knots generously with the reserved garlic butter mixture.
  9. Sprinkle grated Parmesan over the hot knots if desired.
  10. Let knots cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before serving.

Notes

If garlic butter clumps, warm gently in microwave for 10 seconds and stir before brushing. Dust hands with flour if dough is sticky when tying knots. For vegan version, use dairy-free butter and nutritional yeast instead of Parmesan. For gluten-free, use gluten-free pizza dough but expect different texture. Avoid microwaving leftovers to keep knots crispy; reheat in oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes.
