These crispy mini grilled cheese Hawaiian rolls combine sweet, soft rolls with a rich, melted cheese filling and a buttery, crunchy crust. Perfect for quick game day snacks or casual get-togethers, they are easy to make and loved by kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 mini Hawaiian rolls, split in half horizontally
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar and mozzarella cheese blend
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
  • Pinch of black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice each Hawaiian roll in half horizontally, creating a top and bottom piece. Set the tops aside.
  3. In a bowl, combine the melted unsalted butter, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of black pepper. Stir until well mixed.
  4. Using a brush or spoon, spread a generous layer of the butter mixture onto the cut side of each bottom roll piece.
  5. Sprinkle about 2 tablespoons of the shredded cheese blend evenly over each buttered bottom half.
  6. Lightly brush the inside cut side of each top half with the butter mixture.
  7. Place each top half on its corresponding bottom half, pressing down gently but firmly.
  8. Arrange the assembled mini sandwiches on a baking sheet, leaving space between them for air circulation.
  9. Bake for 12–15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the bread is golden and crisp. Optionally, broil for 1–2 minutes for extra crunch, watching closely to avoid burning.
  10. Once out of the oven, sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the top for color and freshness. Serve warm.

Notes

If bottoms brown too quickly, place foil under the baking sheet to diffuse heat. Let sandwiches rest 1-2 minutes after baking to let cheese set. Can prepare ahead and refrigerate or freeze unbaked; add extra baking time if baking from cold. Avoid microwaving leftovers to keep bread crispy.
