A quick and easy homemade ranch Chex mix with pretzel sticks that delivers a perfect crunchy snack with bold ranch flavor. Ideal for casual gatherings, movie nights, or anytime you need a satisfying snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups Corn Chex cereal
  • 3 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 2 cups pretzel sticks
  • 1 cup mixed nuts (optional)
  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 packet (about 1 oz / 28g) ranch seasoning mix
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups Corn Chex, 3 cups Rice Chex, 2 cups pretzel sticks, and 1 cup mixed nuts (if using). Toss gently to blend the textures.
  3. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter for about 45 seconds until fully liquid but not boiling.
  4. Stir in the ranch seasoning packet (about 1 oz / 28g), 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika, and a pinch of salt into the melted butter. Mix until smooth and fragrant.
  5. Pour the seasoned butter over the cereal mixture. Use a spatula or wooden spoon to toss everything gently but thoroughly, making sure every piece is evenly coated.
  6. Spread the coated mix evenly on a large rimmed baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat to prevent sticking.
  7. Bake the mix in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes to toast all sides evenly. Watch closely toward the end and lower the temperature slightly if it starts to brown too quickly.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool completely on the baking sheet. It will crisp up as it cools.
  9. Transfer to an airtight container once cooled. Store at room temperature for up to two weeks.

Notes

Stir the mix every 15 minutes during baking to avoid burnt spots and ensure even toasting. Use fresh ranch seasoning for best flavor. For gluten-free, use certified gluten-free Chex cereals and pretzels. Butter can be substituted with dairy-free margarine or coconut oil. To refresh crispness after storage, toast in a 300°F oven for 5 minutes.
