A rich and creamy layered fudge combining semi-sweet chocolate and peppermint-infused white chocolate, topped with crunchy candy cane pieces. Perfect for festive occasions and quick to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 can (14 oz / 396g) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups (340g) white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 cup crushed candy canes (about 68 standard sticks)

Instructions

  1. Line an 8×8-inch (20×20 cm) square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy fudge removal.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine semi-sweet chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, softened butter, vanilla extract, and salt.
  3. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth and glossy (about 2-3 minutes total).
  4. Pour the chocolate mixture into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  5. Refrigerate for 20-25 minutes until the chocolate layer firms up but is not rock hard.
  6. In another microwave-safe bowl, melt white chocolate chips with butter in 30-second bursts, stirring until smooth (about 1-2 minutes).
  7. Stir in peppermint extract carefully.
  8. Crush candy canes to medium-sized pieces.
  9. Optionally, sprinkle some crushed candy canes on the chilled chocolate layer for a peppermint surprise.
  10. Pour the white chocolate peppermint mixture over the chocolate layer and smooth evenly.
  11. Sprinkle remaining crushed candy canes on top, pressing lightly so they stick but do not sink.
  12. Refrigerate the fudge for at least 2 hours or until fully set; overnight chilling is recommended for best flavor.
  13. Use the parchment paper overhang to lift the fudge from the pan and cut into small squares with a warm, dry knife.
  14. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
