Quick and satisfying ham and cheese breakfast sliders ready in under 20 minutes, perfect for hectic mornings or casual brunches.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 slider buns or soft dinner rolls
  • 12 ounces thinly sliced deli ham or leftover cooked ham
  • 8 ounces Swiss cheese slices (or cheddar, provolone, mozzarella, gouda as alternatives)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  3. Slice the slider buns horizontally, keeping the top and bottom halves intact as one large piece.
  4. Place the bottom half of the buns in the baking dish.
  5. Layer the ham evenly over the buns, then top with cheese slices.
  6. Place the top half of the buns over the cheese and ham layers.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper until smooth.
  8. Brush the butter mixture generously over the tops of the slider buns.
  9. Sprinkle poppy seeds on top if using.
  10. Cover the baking dish loosely with foil and bake for 15 minutes.
  11. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  12. Let the sliders cool for a couple of minutes before slicing into individual portions.

Notes

Keep the buns together as one large sheet for easier assembly and neat sliders. Covering with foil during baking traps steam to melt cheese perfectly; remove foil at the end to crisp tops. Use thin slices of ham and cheese to avoid bulky sliders. Avoid overbaking to prevent dryness. For dairy-free or gluten-free versions, substitute butter and cheese with plant-based alternatives and use gluten-free buns.
