A light, elegant appetizer featuring crisp cucumber slices topped with silky smoked salmon and a fresh, tangy dill cream. Perfect for entertaining and quick to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale
  • English cucumbers, thinly sliced
  • 8 ounces full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • Thinly sliced smoked salmon (about 1/2 ounce per round)
  • Optional garnishes: capers, thinly sliced red onion, smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Wash cucumbers well and slice into 1/4-inch (6 mm) rounds using a mandoline or sharp knife. Pat slices dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, fresh lemon juice, chopped dill, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  3. Spread or pipe about 1 teaspoon of dill cream onto each cucumber slice.
  4. Top each with a small piece (about 1/2 ounce) of smoked salmon.
  5. Add optional garnishes such as a caper, a thin slice of red onion, or a sprinkle of smoked paprika if desired.
  6. Arrange cucumber rounds on a serving platter and chill in the refrigerator for 15–20 minutes before serving.

Notes

Pat cucumber slices dry to prevent sogginess. Use room temperature cream cheese for easier mixing. Thin, even cucumber slices hold toppings better. Prepare dill cream up to a day ahead and keep chilled. Assemble rounds no more than a few hours before serving for best texture. Vegan cream cheese or coconut yogurt can substitute for dairy-free versions.
