A quick and easy sweet-and-savory popcorn mix with buttery popcorn, mini marshmallows, colorful candy-coated chocolates, and a touch of sea salt. Perfect for parties, movie nights, and casual get-togethers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (90g) popcorn kernels
  • 3 tablespoons (42g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup (50g) mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup (150g) colorful candy-coated chocolates (e.g., M&Ms)
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3g) coarse sea salt

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon (14g) of unsalted butter in a large heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat. Add a few popcorn kernels to test the temperature—when they pop, add the rest of the 1/2 cup (90g) kernels. Cover with the lid slightly ajar to let steam escape. Shake the pot gently every 20 seconds to prevent burning. Pop for about 3-5 minutes until popping slows to 2-3 seconds between pops, then remove from heat immediately.
  2. Pour the popped popcorn into a large mixing bowl. Discard any unpopped kernels.
  3. Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons (28g) of butter in the same pot or microwave. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the popcorn. Gently toss with a wooden spoon or heat-resistant spatula to coat the popcorn fully without crushing it.
  4. Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon (3g) coarse sea salt over the buttered popcorn. Toss again to distribute the seasoning evenly.
  5. Allow the popcorn to cool for about 5 minutes until the butter is no longer hot.
  6. Fold in 1 cup (50g) mini marshmallows and 1 cup (150g) colorful candy-coated chocolates. Mix gently to keep marshmallows intact and chewy.
  7. Spread the popcorn mix out on a baking sheet or tray to cool completely to prevent clumping and maintain crispness.
  8. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for up to a week.

Notes

Use fresh popcorn kernels for best popping results. Melt butter gently and drizzle warm, not hot, to avoid melting marshmallows prematurely. Mix candy and marshmallows only after popcorn cools to keep crunch. Spread mix on a tray to cool and prevent clumping. Store in airtight container at room temperature up to 5 days or freeze up to 1 month. Reheat in oven at 250°F (120°C) for 5 minutes to refresh crunch.
