  • Garlic (minced)
  • All-Purpose Flour
  • Milk (whole milk preferred)
  • Heavy Cream
  • Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Fresh Parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the tortellini according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into crumbles. Remove the sausage and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Whisk in the flour and cook for another minute to create a roux. Slowly pour in the milk and heavy cream, whisking continuously to prevent lumps.
  6. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese. Continue stirring until the sauce thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
  7. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in the cooked sausage and drained tortellini, ensuring everything is evenly coated.
  8. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 baking dish. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the top.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly. For a golden-brown finish, broil for an additional 2 minutes.
