  • 1 oz (30 ml) Kahlúa or coffee liqueur
  • 2 oz (60 ml) heavy cream (substitute with half-and-half for lighter option)
  • 1/4 tsp peppermint extract
  • 1 oz (30 ml) milk (whole, almond, or oat)
  • Ice cubes (preferably large cubes)
  • Optional garnish: crushed peppermint candies or a mini candy cane

Instructions

  1. Fill an Old Fashioned glass with large ice cubes to chill it.
  2. Pour 2 oz vodka and 1 oz Kahlúa into a mixing glass or directly into the serving glass and stir gently for about 10 seconds.
  3. Add 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract to the spirit mix and stir gently again.
  4. Pour 2 oz heavy cream and 1 oz milk into the glass and stir slowly just to combine, maintaining a creamy swirl.
  5. Observe the marbled swirl effect created by the cream and coffee liqueur.
  6. Garnish with crushed peppermint candies or hang a mini candy cane on the rim.
  7. Serve immediately for best flavor and texture.

Notes

Use large ice cubes to prevent quick dilution. Start with less peppermint extract as it is very potent. For a frothier texture, shake cream, milk, and peppermint extract with ice before adding to spirits and strain well. Use high-quality vodka and coffee liqueur for best flavor. Store vodka and coffee liqueur separate from cream mixture if making ahead and combine just before serving.
