A fresh and flavorful appetizer featuring ripe tomatoes, basil, garlic, and balsamic vinegar, perfect for game day or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups ripe tomatoes, diced (Roma or cherry tomatoes recommended)
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Toasted baguette slices (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and dice the tomatoes into small cubes. Place them in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Finely chop the fresh basil leaves and add them to the bowl.
  3. Peel and mince the garlic cloves. If using a garlic press, squeeze it directly into the bowl.
  4. Sprinkle salt and pepper to taste over the mixture.
  5. Add one tablespoon of balsamic vinegar and two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil. Toss gently to combine.
  6. Taste the mixture and adjust the seasoning or vinegar as needed.
  7. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice a baguette into thin rounds, brush with olive oil, and bake for 5-7 minutes until golden and crisp (optional).
  8. Transfer the bruschetta dip to a serving bowl and pair with toasted baguette slices, crackers, or tortilla chips.
  9. Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.

Notes

Use ripe tomatoes for the best flavor. Let the dip sit for 10 minutes before serving to enhance the flavors. Toast baguette slices with olive oil for added crunch.
