These mini mousse jars combine rich dark chocolate with creamy Irish cream liqueur for a luscious, velvety dessert perfect for St. Patrick’s Day or any celebration. Quick and easy to make, they offer a fancy yet simple treat that impresses guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
  • 6 oz (170 g) good-quality dark chocolate (60-70% cocoa)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) Irish cream liqueur
  • 2 tbsp (25 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Whipped cream or chocolate shavings for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Chop the dark chocolate into small pieces and melt it in a heatproof bowl over simmering water (double boiler) or microwave in 20-second bursts, stirring frequently until smooth. Set aside to cool slightly, warm but not hot.
  2. In a chilled mixing bowl, combine heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whip with an electric mixer or whisk on medium-high speed until soft peaks form, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Pour the Irish cream liqueur into the cooled melted chocolate and stir gently until fully incorporated and smooth.
  4. Fold about one-third of the whipped cream into the chocolate-Irish cream mixture gently to lighten it. Then fold in the remaining whipped cream carefully until no streaks remain, keeping the mousse airy.
  5. Spoon or pipe the mousse into mini jars or serving glasses, filling nearly to the top and smoothing the surface.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably 4, to let the mousse set and flavors meld.
  7. Before serving, garnish with a dollop of whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or a dusting of cocoa powder if desired.

Notes

Use good-quality dark chocolate for best flavor. Chill bowls and beaters before whipping cream for better results. Fold gently to keep mousse airy. If mousse is runny, chill longer. For dairy-free, substitute coconut cream and dairy-free chocolate. For non-alcoholic, replace Irish cream liqueur with Irish cream-flavored syrup or cream with coffee extract.
