  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream, chilled
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream, chilled
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Add egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  3. Fold in cocoa powder, flour, and salt until no streaks remain. Spread batter evenly in the prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs. Let cool completely.
  4. Melt milk chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring each time, until smooth. Let cool slightly.
  5. Whip heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Fold melted chocolate into whipped cream carefully. Spread mousse evenly over cooled brownie base. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
  6. Repeat the process with white chocolate chips: melt, let cool slightly, whip cream with powdered sugar, and fold chocolate into cream. Spread white chocolate mousse evenly over milk chocolate layer. Refrigerate for another hour.
  7. Once layers are set, slice into bars using a sharp knife. Wipe knife between cuts for clean slices. Serve chilled.
