These Magical Cauldron Cookies are adorable and delicious, making them the perfect Halloween treat for kids and adults alike. Soft, chocolatey cookie cups overflowing with colorful candy create a whimsical and festive dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Assorted Halloween candies (e.g., candy eyeballs, colored sprinkles, gummy worms)
  • Green food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a muffin tin with non-stick spray or line with silicone cupcake liners.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, and beat until fully combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the cookies tough.
  6. Roll small balls of dough (about 1.5 tablespoons each) and place them into the muffin tin. Gently press down the center of each ball to create a cup shape.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers still look slightly soft. Remove from the oven and allow the cookie cups to cool in the tin for 5 minutes.
  8. Gently press the centers of each cookie cup again to reinforce the cauldron shape. Let them cool completely on a wire rack.
  9. To decorate, melt the green candy melts according to the package instructions. Spoon or drizzle the candy melts into each cookie cup to resemble bubbling potion.
  10. Top with mini marshmallows, candy eyeballs, gummy worms, or sprinkles to make your cauldron cookies come alive. Get creative!

Notes

[‘Chill the dough for 15-20 minutes if it feels sticky.’, ‘Avoid overbaking; the cookie cups should look soft in the center when removed from the oven.’, ‘Use tweezers for precise placement of small candies during decoration.’, ‘If cookie cups stick to the tin, use a thin knife to gently loosen the edges before removing them.’]
