Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup (55g) brown sugar
  • ½ cup (120ml) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ⅓ cup (80ml) maple syrup
  • ⅓ cup (80ml) milk, room temperature
  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp (45ml) maple syrup
  • 12 tbsp (15-30ml) milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your baking pan lightly or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a larger bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Add the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract and maple syrup.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix gently until just combined.
  5. Transfer the batter to your prepared pan and spread it evenly with a spatula.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the bars cool completely in the pan.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the milk to reach your preferred consistency.
  8. Once the bars are fully cooled, drizzle or spread the glaze evenly over the top. Let it set for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For best results, use pure maple syrup instead of imitation syrup. Add a pinch of nutmeg or cardamom for extra fall flavor. Chill the glaze for a firmer texture.
