A festive and easy-to-make glazed spiral ham with a sweet and tangy pineapple glaze that is juicy, tender, and perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 to 10 pounds spiral-cut ham, fully cooked
  • 1 (20-ounce) can pineapple rings, drained (or fresh pineapple rings)
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar (light brown sugar preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • Zest of one medium orange (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Maraschino cherries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C). Remove spiral ham from packaging and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Trim excess fat from the ham, leaving a thin layer for flavor.
  3. Place ham flat-side down on a roasting rack inside a roasting pan.
  4. In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar, Dijon mustard, honey, apple cider vinegar, ground cloves, orange zest, and black pepper. Warm over medium heat, stirring frequently, until sugar dissolves and mixture thickens slightly (about 5 to 7 minutes) to a syrupy consistency.
  5. Arrange pineapple rings over the ham surface, securing with toothpicks if needed.
  6. Brush half of the glaze evenly over the ham and pineapple.
  7. Cover loosely with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour, basting with remaining glaze every 15 minutes. Remove foil for the last 15 minutes to allow glaze to caramelize and become sticky.
  8. Check internal temperature with a meat thermometer; it should read 140°F (60°C). Avoid overcooking.
  9. Remove from oven and let rest uncovered for 10 minutes before slicing.
  10. Garnish with maraschino cherries if desired and serve warm.

Notes

If glaze thickens too much or starts to burn, lower oven temperature and tent ham loosely with foil. Multiple thin layers of glaze work better than one thick coat. Secure pineapple rings with toothpicks to prevent sliding. Let ham rest before slicing to keep it juicy. Fresh pineapple can be used in summer and added halfway through baking to prevent overcooking.
