A quick and easy honey glazed ham with a sticky-sweet brown sugar crust that caramelizes perfectly, making it a crowd-pleaser for holiday dinners and family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Fully cooked bone-in ham (6-8 pounds)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves (optional)
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. Score the ham surface with shallow diagonal cuts about 1/4 inch deep in a diamond pattern.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix honey, dark brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, ground cinnamon, and ground cloves until smooth.
  4. Place the ham on a roasting rack inside a roasting pan. Pour 1 cup water into the bottom of the pan.
  5. Brush a generous layer of glaze all over the ham, including the scored cuts. Reserve some glaze for basting.
  6. Cover the ham loosely with foil and roast for about 1 hour and 15 minutes (approximately 10 minutes per pound).
  7. Remove the foil and baste the ham with more glaze every 15 minutes for the next 20-30 minutes, watching carefully to avoid burning.
  8. Check that the internal temperature reaches about 140°F (60°C) by inserting a meat thermometer into the thickest part without touching bone.
  9. Remove the ham from the oven and tent with foil. Let it rest for 15-20 minutes before carving.

Notes

Use raw or local honey for deeper sweetness. Dark brown sugar provides the best caramel flavor. If glaze browns too fast, tent with foil or reduce oven temperature. Let ham rest tented with foil to keep moist. Boneless ham can be used but reduce cooking time. For a twist, swap apple cider vinegar with orange juice or add cayenne for spice.
