Flaky puff pastry twists filled with creamy pumpkin spice filling, perfect for a quick and irresistible fall dessert.

  • 2 puff pastry sheets, thawed
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree (unsweetened)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine pumpkin puree, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir until smooth.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, gently roll out the puff pastry sheets to smooth any creases.
  4. Evenly spread the pumpkin mixture over one puff pastry sheet, leaving a small border around the edges.
  5. Place the second puff pastry sheet on top of the first, gently pressing down. Cut the layered pastry into strips about 1 inch wide.
  6. Take each strip and twist it several times to create a spiral shape. Place the twists on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Brush the twists with beaten egg, then sprinkle with a mixture of granulated sugar and cinnamon.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the twists are golden brown and puffed.
  9. Let the twists cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!

Notes

Work quickly with puff pastry to keep it from becoming too soft. Chill the twists before baking if they feel soft after shaping.
