A quick and easy frozen strawberry margarita recipe that combines the natural sweetness of strawberries with fresh lime juice and smooth blanco tequila for the perfect summer sipping drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (300g) frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup (240ml) blanco tequila
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) fresh lime juice (from about 2 large limes)
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) agave syrup
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) orange liqueur (Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups (150-225g) ice cubes
  • Coarse sea salt or kosher salt for rimming (optional)
  • Lime wedges for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glass rims by pouring a thin layer of lime juice onto a small plate and spreading coarse salt evenly on another plate. Dip the rim of each glass into the lime juice, then into the salt, twisting gently to coat. Set aside to dry.
  2. Juice the limes to get about 1/4 cup (60ml) fresh lime juice. Strain out any seeds.
  3. Add frozen strawberries, blanco tequila, orange liqueur, agave syrup, fresh lime juice, and ice cubes to a blender. Start with less ice for thicker consistency, add more if needed.
  4. Pulse the blender a few times, then blend on high for 30 seconds to 1 minute until smooth and slushy. Adjust thickness by adding water or more tequila if too thick, or more ice or frozen strawberries if too thin.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more agave syrup or lime juice as desired, then blend briefly again.
  6. Pour the margaritas into the prepared glasses and garnish with a lime wedge or fresh strawberry on the rim.
  7. Serve immediately to enjoy the best icy texture.

Notes

Use frozen strawberries for best icy texture; fresh strawberries require more ice which can dilute flavor. Use high-quality blanco tequila for smooth taste. Pulse ice and fruit before blending fully to avoid motor strain and uneven texture. Rimming glasses with salt is optional but recommended for classic flavor. Serve immediately for best texture. Glasses can be chilled in freezer beforehand to keep drinks colder longer.
