A quick and easy virgin margarita slushie that is tangy, sweet, and perfectly icy—ideal for kids and adults who want a festive non-alcoholic drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) fresh lime juice (about 45 limes)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) fresh orange juice (about 12 oranges)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water dissolved)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold water
  • 3 cups (about 450 g) ice cubes
  • Coarse salt for rimming glasses (optional)
  • Lime wedges for garnish and rimming glasses

Instructions

  1. Prepare the simple syrup by combining 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves completely, then remove from heat and let cool.
  2. Juice the citrus fruits: squeeze 4-5 limes to get 1/3 cup fresh lime juice and 1-2 oranges for 1/4 cup fresh orange juice. Remove any seeds.
  3. Rub a lime wedge along the rim of each glass, then dip the rims into coarse salt to coat. Set aside.
  4. In a blender, combine fresh lime juice, orange juice, simple syrup, cold water, and ice cubes. Blend on high until smooth and slushy, about 30-45 seconds. Adjust consistency by adding more water or ice as needed.
  5. Taste and adjust flavor: add more simple syrup if too tart, or more lime juice if too sweet.
  6. Pour into prepared glasses, garnish with a lime wedge and a fun straw, and serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh lime and orange juice for best flavor. Adjust sweetness to taste. For a creamier twist, add a splash of coconut water or coconut milk. Salt rim is optional and can be replaced with sugar or colored sugar crystals for kids who dislike salt. Store leftover mix without ice in the fridge up to 24 hours and blend with fresh ice before serving.
