A quick and easy summer cocktail blending sweet watermelon with a spicy jalapeño kick, fresh lime juice, and tequila for a refreshing and vibrant drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fresh watermelon, cubed and seeds removed
  • 1 medium jalapeño pepper, sliced (seeds optional for heat preference)
  • 1 cup tequila blanco
  • ½ cup fresh lime juice (about 45 limes)
  • 2 tablespoons agave nectar or simple syrup
  • 2 cups ice cubes
  • Pinch of sea salt (for rimming glasses or sprinkling in drink, optional)
  • Fresh mint or cilantro sprigs for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Slice the jalapeño thinly. Remove seeds and membranes if less heat is desired.
  2. Gently muddle the jalapeño slices in a small bowl using a muddler or the back of a spoon to release flavor without pulverizing.
  3. Add watermelon cubes and ice to a blender. Blend on high until smooth and slushy, about 30-45 seconds.
  4. Pour in tequila, fresh lime juice, and agave nectar. Blend briefly to combine, about 15-20 seconds.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness or heat by adding more agave or jalapeño slices, blending briefly again if needed.
  6. Optional: Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer for a pulp-free margarita.
  7. Rub lime wedge around the rim of each glass and dip rims in sea salt.
  8. Pour margarita into prepared glasses. Garnish with a jalapeño slice and mint or cilantro sprig if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Muddle jalapeño gently to avoid overpowering bitterness and heat. Use fresh lime juice for best flavor. Adjust jalapeño seeds to control spiciness. Chill glasses before serving for a colder drink. If too watery, add more ice and blend again; if too thick, add a splash of cold water or extra lime juice.
