A warm, cheesy barbecue chicken dip perfect for game day, combining smoky barbecue sauce, creamy cheese, and tender chicken for a crowd-pleasing snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (280g) cooked shredded chicken (rotisserie recommended)
  • 3/4 cup (180ml) barbecue sauce (smoky, slightly sweet preferred)
  • 8 ounces (225g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups (170g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons thinly sliced green onions
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer or whisk until smooth and creamy (about 1-2 minutes).
  3. Stir in the sour cream and barbecue sauce until well combined.
  4. Add garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper; stir gently to blend.
  5. Fold in shredded chicken and shredded cheddar cheese using a spatula, mixing evenly without overworking.
  6. Transfer the mixture to an 8×8-inch (20×20 cm) oven-safe baking dish and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  8. Remove from oven and sprinkle sliced green onions on top.
  9. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, sliced baguette, or crunchy veggies.

Notes

For best texture, use small-curd cream cheese and freshly shredded cheddar cheese. Soften cream cheese fully before mixing. If dip is dry after baking, stir in extra barbecue sauce or a splash of milk. Customize spice level by adding diced jalapeño or cayenne pepper. Can be made a day ahead and refrigerated before baking.
